My Needle Felted Creatures and other things

Finally I think I have figured out how to post pictures thanks to my niece Fern, so here are pictures of a few of the things that I needle felt. The first is a mermaid. She started out as a bear and ended up as bare breasted. She is sunbathing at the edge of my pond.

This next picture is a sunflower gnome that I donated to our local Sunflower Festival to support the hospice.I like making animals too, especially ones that fit nicely in a childs hand.

I have been needlefelting for two years, I use all local wool, mohair, alpaca and llama and make most of my animals from the fleece from my shetland sheep.

A new born shetland lamb from last spring.

A few more things.

First Snowy Day

It is a very snowy day, the first of the season and very early. We were not prepared! We had to build a temporary sheep shelter for six ewes we have separated at the moment to keep away from the ram. We had a small shelter for them but it was fairly low and with over a foot of snow they would have had to crawl inside. Now everyone is cozy again with extra hay and grain. They look very wild on the hill with their snow covered backs facing against the north wind.

Our kittens enjoyed the first snow too, leaping and dancing and coming in with fringes of snow bobbles on their long fur. Our daughter bundled up and explored the forest for hours with the dogs, finding new paths revealed by the burden of snow on the undergrowth.

I want to stay home but I must venture out before the roads are closed.
